The Safety Specialist/Training Coordinator will report to the Safety Manager and is responsible for continuous training as well as assisting with site safety, environmental practices and championing change management initiatives at all levels to lead us to a best in class safety organization. This position will work with all employees at every level and deliver positive change throughout the safety culture within the organization. Responsibilities:
Train new and existing employees in all aspects of safety, quality and equipment operation:
New Hire Onboarding
Monthly/Annual Safety Training Refresher Courses
Lockout/Tagout and Machine Safety
Policy Implementation and Refresher
Quality Checks
Training Matrix Audits/Monitoring
Conduct safety audits throughout the plant, and on personnel, equipment and materials
Evaluate, assess and alter safety policies and procedures for the benefit of employees and visitors
Research, monitor and implement new material handling practices
Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees and visitors
Ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, EPA, local agencies, etc.)
Research environmental regulations and policies and institute changes to ensure compliance
Lead incident investigations and track any employee injuries (i.e. workers compensation
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or working towards degree (preferably in Environmental Safety and Health) – or equivalent experience
General knowledge of OSHA and EPA standards in General Industry
Ability to train, influence and motivate team members
