The Environmental Health and Safety Manager is responsible for managing site safety, environmental programs and practices and championing change management initiatives at all levels to lead us to a best in class safety organization for three facilities. This role manages and directs the activities of the local site safety team and is responsible for executing on the facility safety goals and priorities. This position will champion projects, collaborate with key stakeholders, actively work with all employees at every level, and be responsible for delivering positive changes in our safety culture at all levels within the organization.
  • Develop and implement effective safety training programs including support for monthly crew safety meeting content and new hire training.
  • Provide leadership and coordinate efforts to drive continual improvement of health and safety program effectiveness. Evaluates job safety analyses (JSA’s) for possible ergonomic and other safety risk improvements (body mechanics, lifts, hoists, manipulators, etc.) and engineering improvements and implement these work design changes with appropriate team members.
  • Actively investigates all incidents including near misses, identifies root causes, risk rank all corrective/preventive actions and ensures they are implemented.
  • Recommend changes to reduce safety hazards and health risks
  • Provide functional expertise and strategic direction to achieve our vision of an accident free workplace while positively impacting profitability and operational excellence. Maintain required information (MSDS, OSHA 300 log,  etc) and analyze data to provide information to management to identify problem areas and safety trends and develop action plans to address findings.
  • Develop an annual safety calendar (training schedule, milestones, significant activities, etc). Maintain an effective emergency response procedure for the sites and ensures all team members are trained annually. Maintain training records as applicable for lock out-tag out (LOTO), Forklift certification, First Aid/CPR, etc.
  • Workers Compensation Program Administration including case management, benefit coordination, record keeping and the return-to-work process
  • A bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or technical discipline with significant related experience and exposure to OSHA general industry requirements. Working knowledge and experience with implementing OSHA and EPA regulations
  • 7+ yrs experience in a manufacturing/industrial environment.
