Boxes of St. Louis, Incorporated is looking for a Shipping Supervisor (Monday through Friday, 7am-4pm, with some weekend work required) 

Job Title: Shipping Supervisor
Department: PLT
Reports To: Production Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments, prepares items for shipment, and assists manufacturing lines by performing the below duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to the following: 
Verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment: Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Read and execute instructions from job tickets and properly document actions, shipping methods and piece count.
Determines method of shipment, utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons, using stenciling equipment.  Complete packing slips and bills of lading accurately.
Use UPS and Fed-Ex computer systems for labeling and shipping.  Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
Effectively perform functions associated with drop shipping and ltl shipping. 
Unpacks and examines incoming shipments, rejects damaged items, records shortages, and corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages.
Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
Maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies.
Operates a forklift and handtruck to move convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area or vice versa.
Use company and shipping vendor electronic systems to provide proper tracking information and accuracy in the accounting of company property.
Coordinate/manage flow of goods and materials to/from docks to support delivery deadlines of inbound & outbound loads, while maximizing load productivity.
Pack cartons and prepare skids of finished goods for shipping or storage.
Ensures next-shift deliveries are planned and staged before the next shift arrives.
Supervisory Responsibilities                                                 
Directly supervises 3 to 5 employees in the Shipping and Plant Departments, including, but not limited to, receiving forklift drivers, line forklift drivers, and the bander. Oversees an internal fleet of up to 10 drivers for local area deliveries with tight scheduling parameters; typically 24 hour turn around times. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience                                                
Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Background in logistics and transportation management strongly preferred. 
Language Skills                                             
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills                                                   
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability                                                      
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills                                             
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Explorer; Amtech Manufacturing Software; UPS, FedEx, and additional shipping software; Microsoft Office:  Outlook, Excel, and Word Processing.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Forklift License required.
